In the Children, Youth, and Family Google Trends Project, we use Google search data to analyze and gain insight into the issues of public interest and concern related to children, youth, and families. Because these data summarize billions of searches, they are a proxy for public interest in these topics.
Google Trends data are an unbiased sample of Google searches. The data are anonymized (no one is personally identified), categorized (determining the topic or terms for a search query) and aggregated (grouped together). This allows someone to assess interest in a particular topic across searches for a given time period and/or for a given region of the world. It offers a reflection of the needs, wants, demands and interests of its users.
